Colin McRae DiRT hacks

EDIT - I have made quite a mess here doh. sry about that. so just ignore the part where i said that .CSV files does not take effect, they do. read my 3rd post/reply in this topic !!!
How to make .CSV file more readable:
1. get a hex editor (im using xvi32)
2. open .csv file in hex editor
3. replace "2C" with "2C 0D 0A" and save
NOTE - dont forget to change it back after editing or game will crash.
it is quite simple to hack/modify this game.
just like in cmr05, there's .CSV files which contain all the data about cars (handling, acceleration, drivedrain...etc)
files are located in the /cars folder. to me the path would be ''C:\Games\dirt\cars\''
folder /cars obviously contains all the cars. to find .CSV setting file for car go into one of those folders.
in each folder there is a car.csv. names r shortened so you have to check car names in game and then look what it should be.
307 - Peugeot 307
kam - kamaz
405 - Peugeot 405 (pikes peak), not sure about this one.
exi - Lotus Exige (also not sure, just a guess)
fto - Mitsubishi FTO unlimited
esc - Suzuki Escudo
man - MAN truck
str - Lancia Stratos
tac - Toyota Tacoma
you just have to check car names in game. if you bother with it, then post whole list here. for example i have no idea what New Lancia Stratos could be, and many others. not all names make sense.
about modifying...i havent manually changed anything yet. i simply replaced one with another. so for example you can make your truck act like a impreza.
First thing should be weight.
this part is from ''esc.CSV'' file. this means that Suzuki Escudo should weight 900kg.
this part is from ''man.CSV'' file. so it means that MAN truck should weight 6500kg.
note tht if you want to change weight then you need to change values in each set. look below.
theres also words like ''rear'' ''four'' ''front'' - if you think .. you would see that its the drivedrain.
four - 4wd (four wheel drive)
rear - rear wheel drive
front - front wheel drive
theres also ''FordV8'' which indicated to engine, but its oviously not, because every car has it.
you can also make your car handle on gravel just like it would be on tarmac. if you look the files, theres 3 sets of settings.
car,car,Standard
TARMAC,TARMAC,Standard
OFFROAD,OFFROAD,Standard
those should indicate how car handles on each surface. some cars have 2 sets so oviously those cars cannot be used on 3 different surfaces. i havent tried it, but its obvious that it will work. so make sure to change values in each set if you change something like weight, acc, hp, drivedrain..etc. otherwise it would be really dumb ... on tarmac your car has four wheel drive and on gravel front wheel drive .. or rear wheel drive..or something like that .. lol
just change something and see what happens. its best if you write down all possible info about car (in game) and then just compare. better yet write down 2-3 car's info and then compare it with files. should be easy to figure out what value is what (exept handling)
theres also some trainers available, but those simply give you money, freeze timer, no dmg or first place always (also works with freezer timer).
NOTE - changing cars settings will also effect A.I. drivers !! so it doesnt help you much on rallyraid, rallycross..etc races if they have same vehicles. I tested it on rallyraid (trucks) race. replaced kamaz settings with chevy silverado. me and 2 A.I. drivers had kamaz's and we simply flied past other trucks.
im not sure what happend, but it seems i can't get into online sessions (maybe cuz i have cracked/no dvd version)
i had v 1.1 before and it did upload times, but now i installed v 1.2 and now it doesnt upload times anymore. i can see online times, but my times will not upload on some reason. i changed all files back and closed trainers, but i still have same problems so i guess its no dvd version.
