as thread says, if somebody knows, i want to know it too. ive searched and searched, but 24dbi is most powerful wifi / wireless antenna they produce. im not talking about custom ones that can go beyond like 500km or more. its extremely hard to build one on your own as i have stated in other topic, but i really want to know why is 24dbi most powerful out there.
is it illegal to produce more than 24dbi or something ? factory details about 24dbi grid / dish antennas is that it can get signal from about 2500 - 4000 meters on straight line, which is very good indeed, however cant even start to compare to the ones that can go beyond 500km.
so why is 24dbi most powerful you can buy in shops ?

I wonder i actually found some stuff on amazon...
which claims that it have 48dbi, however the size of it seems to be a bit strange.
Found a lot of 48dbi ones here :
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/who ... tenna.html
I even found a 96dbi one,
http://german.alibaba.com/product-gs/20 ... 89308.html

looks like scam to me, if you look at my wireless equipment video on youtube, you see how HUGE even a 15dbi omni antenna is and 24dbi grid antenna is literally MASSIVE. so a real 48dbi would be size of your average room.
and 96dbi omni or directional, would be size of a house.
however one says it is 3600mW, which would be quite powerful if its true. mine is 2000mW and does good job already.
but after i found this line, it was clear that it's nothing special
Output Power: 24dbm(OFDM), 32dbm(CCK)
i mean only idiot would believe its true. look at the size of the antennas, they are so tiny. it might be that total power of all those 3-4 antennas is that much, but just be cause you have more antennas, does not increase the range lol. it would allow you to make high-speed transfers over 150mbit/s, but it says its 150mbit/s .. so it must be crap.
my Alfa AWUS036NHR can do 33dbm, but its country restricted and enabling it at 33 is a bitch. works only at 20dbm right now.
