Hi guyz, i have a file called 837CFBB2FC9E786721D4E43342 (no extension) on my desktop.
The file cant be altered in any way. That means u cant
delete, copy, cut, rename, or do any changes to it, doesnt matter if u are admin or not.
The file cant be deleted via "Unlocker". The file doesnt show up in cmd when u write DIR. IT doesnt show up, if u write DIR /AS. IT doesnt show up in registry either. The file doesnt exist in anyway, but it is still on my desktop. It really pisses me off, and i hope u guyz have some more ideas. A screenshot is included.

Re: 0 byte file on desktop
seems like it's made by some app, most likely some download manager.
have you tried rebooting pc and then delete it?
usually such files disappear on their own after reboot, they just get "locked" by the app that made it, if you close the app, then you can delete it or it disappears, if not, then after reboot it does.
if it's still there after all that, use linux live cd, mount your HDD where your windows is, go to your desktop dir and delete it.
Edit:
actually it looks more like an windows update file. is your windows updates on? if so, turn it OFF. windows updates is base for all windows fuck-ups.

Yeah as seth said turn windows update off, also try turning system restore off, reboot in safe mode and try deleting.
What does unlocker say when you do this - right click > Unlocker > "delete file & unlock all" ?

Re: 0 byte file on desktop
it's definetly some cached file, no doubt about it.
firefox usually makes them if download cuts off on some reason, firefox should delete it if that happens, but sometimes it doesn't.
however it always fixes itself after reboot.
i highly doubt windows update would make something like that on desktop, win update always makes such files and folders directly on HDD (where your OS is).
