Hello im new to this forums but i saw a lot of hex editing stuff and i would like to learn some of it from u Sethioz...im currently doing a translation of a psp game from jap to eng...i already unpacked the files and i already saw the texts...the problem is when i use a hex editor (Madedit to be exact because this shows jap characters) it does not change any texts on the game when i repack it and put it into my psp...i just use google translate to do some of the translating. and there are some character limitations and such...if there are 00 can i overwrite them or do i just have to makeup for the limitations? example is this files
http://www.mediafire.com/?tentndteg5y5i1d
http://www.mediafire.com/?vr7b8d2ckhir87s
both of them have jap text...do i just replace the jap text with english texts or do i need to do something else?
please help me...

MOVED - this is not game hacking, it is modding. try posting into right sub-forums.
what is your exact problem, i dont really understand.
you replaced jap text and repacked and then what ? you go into game, does it run ? does it crash ?
you said not showing, what does it mean. no text at all ?
where is 00 ? like "blah 00 test" ? (obviously blah and test in hex too, just example). or you mean at end of the file theres like 00 00 00 00 ?
i dont see any problem, hex editing always works.
make a simple test, replace only one small part, like some menu or something easy to test and see if it works.
there might be problem with the file size limit or word lenght limit. for example if jap text is like 10 characters long, but english word would be 11, then you cant replace it. but if jap word is 12 characters and english would be 11, then you must put 00 at end of the eng word.
try that, see what happens.
don't use some gay file sharing, i never visit those sites. so this means i did not check those files. thats why i have attachment option on forum.

Re: PSP jap to Eng Translation
ok thanks for ur quick replay on this matter and sorry for the mF links...did not really know that those are gay links....well the problem is that when i repack it the texts that i already edited are not showing up...the games does work...so if there are string limitations how will i know if the jap has 10 characters? is it based on like this 53 54 53 <===this have 3 characters in hex, correct me if i am wrong...so if i am replacing them it should also be 3 characters...i tried to upload it there but it says i cant upload a bin files and all the files that i want u to check are bin files so i dont know where to upload it so i just went to MF and sorry bout that and...thanks again!

Re: PSP jap to Eng Translation
yes you are correct about the lenght.
example you gave 53 54 53, is 3 bytes in hex >> 3 characters.
it doesnt matter, dont make it so complicated. if your word is 53 54 53 44 in hex, then it must be same lenght in hex.
for example in jap you have this:
53 54 53 44 99
and you need to put it into english, which would be like this:
55 44 99 33
then you must add 00, like so 55 44 99 33 00
however if its other way around, then im not sure if it can be done at all.
put your files into .rar. i tought its obvious to pack the files. i try to change them for you, if it doesnt work. ask on xentax forum, they are community of game researchers.

i took a quick look, but it seems that those files are packed. content makes no sense, i can see some japanese words, but its definetly not the right file. ask on xentax.
